Woodward’s SPM-D2 is form, fit and function compatible successor to each of the SPM-D line of synchronizer’s that are currently active. These are simple and robust microprocessor based synchronizers designed for use on three-phase AC generators equipped with Woodward or other compatible speed controls and automatic voltage regulators. This unit is one Woodward Inc' s synchronizer modules, available from us at AX Control Inc. as a either unused surplus or reconditioned hardware. Woodward Inc. is responsible for the development and production of a large-spanning range of industrial generator modules, from speed and loading control to voltage regulator modules. This unit is a part of their SPM-D11 category of synchronizers, and designated under the numerical ID of 8440-1706. The 8440-1706 model is outfitted with the capability to provide units with a combined synchronizing ability for a circuit breaker, power factor and load factor control, and the option for isochronous load sharing and generator protection. The 8440-1706 unit is also built with a choice for operators to implement while the generator voltage matching is occuring; either the phase matching can also occur, or the slip frequency synchronization can be enabled. The mains parallel operating features the 8440-1706 is included with is a wide range of features. There is the real power control, the true RMS power calculation, as well as the soft unload feature, and the power factor control and setpoint by the adjusted parameters. This unit is also outfitted with isolated operation control features and dead bus operation features. The 8440-1706 is designed with the standard dimensions, measuring at 144 millimeters by 72 millimeters by 122 millimeters. It weighs at least 800 grams, or 1.76 lbs. The integrated LCD display has a two-line display, and provides users with information for system diagnostics and alarms.
